‘Speed limit device will reduce road accidents by 60%’

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has said the speed limit device introduced by the FRSC will reduce road accidents by 6o per cent.
Oyeyemi said this in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Monday during the commencement of the 2016 ‘ember months safety sensitisation campaign initiative’ of the FRSC.
He said that speeding was responsible for 50 per cent of fatal road accidents in the country, adding that the speed limit device would help to reduce auto crashes in the future.
The Corps Marshal, who was represented by a top official of the FRSC, Mr. Victor Nwokolo, lamented that Nigeria had yet to comply with the United Nations Decade of Action, which seeks to eradicate fatalities on the highways.
